September 17, 2018 - Move over DUNS Number (Data Universal Numbering System), GSA is on the hunt for a new unique identifier for US Federal Government Contractors. Data centric industry groups have long had issue with Dun & Bradstreet's "monopoly" of the DUNS number when it comes to federal contracting. The DUNS Number has been used by the government since 1962 and became part of the FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulations) in 1998. It's a 9 digit unique number that can help CO's determine financial strength. Behind the scenes, it also links subsidiaries and corporate affiliations often leveraged by investigative agencies as well as CO's across all agencies.
